Born
in Messina, Italy (Sicily), self-taught from the age
of 6, he graduated in Jazz Composition with highest
marks and praises at the Conservatory of Messina.
Also, he studied for several years with the pianist-composer
Salvatore Bonafede, and, in New York for
a brief time with Richie Beirach. In the
years he attended several jazz courses and clinics,
among the others Siena Jazz; Berklee Clinics in
Umbria, Aebersold School in London , and piano
courses with Shirley Scott, James Williams
and Franco D’Andrea.
Luciano
performed in several festival and jazz-clubs in Europe
and US. He is the pianist of Mahanada Quartet,
an original combination of free improvisation and
written music, in which play also Carmelo Coglitore,
Giancarlo Mazzù and Carlo Nicita. With
Mahanada Quartet he has released three CDs, and
garnered extremely good reviews and recognitions

Also, he released two CDs in duo with the guitarist
Giancarlo Mazzù: "Seven Tales
About Standards" (SplascH Records, 2006)
and "Seven Tales About Standards Vol.2"
(SplascH Records 2009). Both the CDs have been considered
as a creative and original approach to the standards
(“Best Albums of 2009”, All About
Jazz, Italy, 2009, ”Favourite Ten CD’s
2006”, El Intruso Jazz Magazine, Argentina).
He is one of the two pianist -with Salvatore Bonafede-
of Double Piano Orchestra directed by the
italian jazz vocalist and composer Rosalba Lazzarotto.
With Rosalba's groups he plays on the CDs "Double
Rainbow" (Wide Records, 2006), and "My
Funny Valentine" (Wide Sound, 2008).
He is one of the two pianist - with Salvatore Bonafede

Luciano
has been signaled several times as Talent of the
Year, Pianist of the Year, Group
of the Year, and Album of the Year in
Top Jazz Poll of Musica Jazz Magazine.
In 2010 he released his first piano solo album, "At
Home With Zindars", entirely dedicated to
the music of the composer Earl Zindars, Chicago
1927-San Francisco 2005 [www.zindars.com].
Realized between New York, San Francisco and Messina
(Italy), the CD contains also some Zindars songs never
issued before. Earl Zindars was well-known principally
for the friendship and musical empathy with the legendary
pianist Bill Evans, who played several of
his songs along all the career. The CD is accompained
by a 40-page booklet realized after Luciano's visit
at home with the composer's family in San Francisco.
"At Home With Zindars" has been acclaimed
by the most important jazz writers and journalists,
who recognized the great artistical value, and historical

The cd has been awarded "Record To Die For
2011" on Stereophile magazine (USA),
and has received a nomination at Independent Music
Awards (USA).
